«EXCLUSIVE : GENTRY WHITE TALKS ABOUT UNREAL’S SECOND SEASON»

Gentry White is an american actor who we can see right now playing Romeo on Lifetime’s cult show UnReal’s second season. Besides this role, Gentry is also currenlty playing Billy Lee on AMC’s Turn.

In a new exclusive interview, we have been able to sit down an chat with him about his experience on UnReal and what is in stock for the show’s highly anticipated second season.

– Hello Gentry, thanks for your time. So, what can you tell us about your experience on UnReal so far?

Unreal has been fantastic. In the beginning it was so cold shooting in Vancouver, but i feel like that’s what brought me and my other cast mates close… because we literally needed each others body heat to stay warm. (haha) Seriously, it’s been quite an amazing experience to work with such a solid group of actors and crew members. It’s been a lot of laughs despite how you may see us interact on screen.

– New bachelor, new season. Which are the main differences we will be seeing this year?

Our suitor this season is different because he’s a football star, from the south, and he’s black. However, i think it’s best if you watch and see the difference yourself. I don’t want to give away anything!

– You’ll be playing Romeo, Everlasting’s current star’s manager who is also his cousin. We know that he doesn’t mind playing into the shows manipulative ways, not bad for starter, but what else can you tell us about him? What is his role in all this?

Romeo is ultimately the suitors’ family first and foremost. Darius and Romeo came from the same background. They each found their way out through one another. Darius with his athleticism, Romeo with his business sense, and collectively they are a power duo. You’ll see how strong their bond is throughout the season. He cares for Darius and his career. Romeo is smart, sharp, and can be as cunning as the rest.

– Darius Hill (B.J.Britt) is this new bachelor. What can you tell us about him? What does he provide to UnReal? Does he have similarities with the previous one (Adam played by Freddie Stroma) or would it be better to say we are in front of something new?

B.J. Britt is one of my favorite people. We are both from the south and funny enough he was the first actor i got in contact with when i moved to L.A. So for us to have the opportunity to work together and to be related, it’s been crazy! We act up a lot on set, almost to the point of getting scolded. (haha) B.J. and Freddie’s characters as suitors are similar in the sense that they are both high profile ladies men, however the way they go about handling certain situations differ quite a bit. But Darius Beck brings a flavor to the “Everlasting” world that will be refreshing.

«It’s amazing how good writing can make you root for a character who’s actually not that good of a person.»

«Rachel and Quinn : One is not as strong without the other, much like Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.»

– More in general terms, what can we expect of season two?

A whole lot of trickery and manipulation.

-What do you think makes UnReal such an addictive show?

Really i think it’s how well developed these characters are. As an audience member watching season one i was impressed at how connected i felt to the turmoil these women and men faced in the Everlasting world. It’s amazing how good writing can make you root for a character who’s actually not that good of a person.

– Many people have described UnReal as a female’s Breaking Bad. Do you agree with that description?

I do! Constance and Shiri as a team are so good. Their characters hate and love each other. They need one another as much as they want to act as though they don’t. One is not as strong without the other, much like Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

– Before we finish, let us know. Are you working on any new projects?

I’m actually still recurring on the AMC series ‘TURN: Washington’s Spies”. We’re in our third season currently, so i will most likely go back to continue my role as Billy Lee. But i’m also working on a fantasy pilot that I hope to shop around next year.

– Thank You so much Gentry. Best wishes from Spain!
