EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH LINDSEY MORGAN (THE 100)

Lindsey Morgan, is the young actress who plays Raven Reyes on CW’s hit show The 100. On a new exclusive interview, we’ve had the chance to speak with her about her time on the show, her character, and the past, present and future of The 100.

– Hi Lindsey, thanks for your time. After two seasons playing Raven Reyes in CW’s hit show The 100, how has your experience been so far? Was it a challenge to start working in a series so different from the “classic” CW style?

The experience of being able to portray Raven Reyes on The 100 has been a true dream role. I definitely feel like The100 isn’t a “classic” CW styled show, it’s gritty, dark and really pushes the limits, but i love that because it pushes me as an actress. I love the fact that i represent a woman of color playing a zero G mechanical engineer with a disability and am still totally kick ass, what other show has that going on right now?!

– Focusing on the present, the big question everybody is asking themselves after that shocking mid season finale is… What about Finn? Can you spill us anything about his status?

As you saw in the midseason finale, Finn is finished… I really think the writers pushed the character of Finn to an amazing arc, he started as the peacekeeper, the voice of reason and compassion and then totally lost it, doing an unthinkable act and trying to survive afterwards with his guilt and totally damaged mindset. His evolution was really shocking to me and I admired that the show went there with him and Thomas portrayed it fantastically!

– I imagine that whatever his fate is, this will be an important event for Raven. How will we see her when the show comes back? What’s up next for your character in the rest of the season?

Finn’s death will affect Raven forever, changes her, marks her. He was her only family and she had lost him, she will never be the girl she once was now that she knows what immeasurable loss feels like. You will see Raven go through all the very human emotions of grief, our show takes a lot of pride in depicting humanity accurately, and this will be another instance. Raven for the rest of the season is now more than ever determined to get their people out of Mount Weather so Finn’s death will not be in vain but she is grieving so her heart and mental state can be an obstacle, but she vigorously throws herself into her work and mission.

– Besides that storyline, many other things are in motion right now, can you tell us anything about what’s coming up in the next episodes of the show? What direction is the story taking?

When we come back The 100 will have officially formed an alliance with the grounders. So from now on the rest of the season The 100 are essentially a new people, combined with the arkers and the grounders, a new army readying themselves for war against the ultimate adversaries, the mountain men who have their friends imprisoned.

– Going back to Raven, you play such a tough character! She’s been through so many bad experiences but at the end of the day it always seems like things turn out well…

I think you definitely see Raven’s struggles and her vulnerability quite a lot actually. She doesn’t try to portray it in front of other people, but in private moments, I think the audience gets a chance to see it and see inside her psyche. But she is tough, because she has to be, she always had to be a survivor and a fighter, I think that’s a big reason why she has lasted so long on earth.

– Is that correct or does she bottle it all up? How do you think she manages to be so hard emotionally?

She’s not one to bottle up her emotions, but she always pushes on and pushes forward, trying her best not to wallow because she has more important matters on hand to attend to, mainly surviving day to day or rescuing her friends who are in grave danger.

– Does Lindsey have anything in common with Raven?

I would say I am not nearly as smart as Raven is, but I am definitely a fighter and a survivor. In this business you are faced with so much pressure and rejection, and without any guidance on how to navigate your way. But I work hard, never give up, and try my best to be the best person I can be and do the right thing, like Raven.

– Have you learned anything from her?

I think I have learned a lot from her. She is very decisive and does not fret too much, if something needs to be done, she gets it done, no excuses. I try to be as efficient as her and productive. She also always puts others first, I aspire to be as selfless as her too.

– Since day one The100 has always been a show full of stunning storylines. As an insider, what has been the most surprising twist for you in these two seasons?

I was very shocked by Finn’s massacre. I did not see that coming whatsoever, and really enjoyed it as a plot turn, as well as Clarke being the one to kill Finn. I think both those instances really had me gasping as I read the script.

– Supposing you have wrapped production, season one finished with a big cliffhanger. Are you going for the same this season?

This season will definitely leave on a GIANT cliffhanger, something that will take season three into a whole new uncharted territory.

– In your free time, do you watch any TV series? Any favorites?

I love a lot of series, my favorites currently are Parks and Recreation, Game of Thrones, The Newsroom and Veep.

– Before we finish, we always like to ask this to the stars we interview so, can you recommend us a song, a book and a movie.

Song: Uptown Funk; Bruno Mars

Movie: Birdman

Book: The Tao Te Ching

– Thanks again Lindsey, it’s been great. Best wishes from Spain.
